About LHA
Lord’s House and Altar exists to adhere to the example of the church found in Acts 2:42-47. It seeks to complete the four-fold purpose of fulfilling the needs of i) intellect, ii) spiritual, iii) social, and iv) physical. It does this in order to help all people be more complete, and fill their needs in those areas.
Lord’s House and Altar exists to be a lighthouse and refuge for people (Nahum 1:7). It is a community (Acts 2:42-47) that supports each other in their walk with God, and encourages them to grow in their faith (Proverbs 27:17). A community that is there for those that are seeking God (Matthew 9:12-13), and there to help them in any way that they can (Romans 12:13).
This is done through individual and corporate worship (Acts 2:46), discipleship (Colossians 1:10), teaching of God’s word (Acts 2:42), fellowship (Acts 2:42/Proverbs 27:17), prayer (Matthew 6:5-6; Acts 2:42), and outreach to the community (Acts 1:8). Lord’s House and Altar is a church for those who are willing to seek God’s council (Proverbs 1:23), and not be afraid to follow it (Matthew 16:24). It is not for those who want to go through the motions, but rather for those who are willing to become disciples and take up their cross daily and follow Him (Lucky 9:23).
The church exists to glorify, praise, and worship God (Acts 2:47). By striving to glorify, praise, and worship God, the church can point everyone to Him, and allow them to see only Him. This is something that all Christians should strive for in their daily life, but the church should be setting the example for people on how to do all three. Lord’s House and Altar also exists to fulfill the great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; John 17:18).
The church is to reach out and be the city on the hill (Matthew 5:14), and try everything that it can to reach the community. The church is to be the one that reaches out to the sick and call the sinners unto Christ (Matthew 9:12-13), just as Christ did. By combining the Great Commission and calling the sinners, the church can bring people to Christ and help fulfill one element of its multi-faceted purpose.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to be operate according to the ways of the early church (Acts 2:42-47). We aspire to be a church based on relationships with others (including non-believers), grace (balanced with the Truth of God's word). The church should be a faith-based oriented institution that is meant to build people up, not bring them down. In that same way, our vision is to gather God's people into a church that is filled with love, grace, humility, and the Holy Spirit.
OUR MISSION
Whether you are already a Christian, have some (okay, a lot!) of questions before giving your life to Christ, we believe that you were placed on this Earth for a reason. Our mission is to help believers and non-believers in Christ find their purpose and potential in God.
OUR COMMUNITY
The early church was a community of believers. Each person came with their own persecutions, bad habits, regrets, and grief. Our church members believe in helping in the local community, servicing others with our God-given talents and spiritual gifts, provide ministries of spiritual and psychological healing, and bringing others to Christ through our relationships with them. At LHA, you will find a group of believers who just want to worship God through His Word. There is no 'bible-thumping' here; no self-righteousness, no hypocrisy--just normal people doing the great things with what God gave them.
